A corporate logo is a symbol or graphic image that represents a company, brand or entity. Its main function is to visually identify and differentiate the organization, transmitting values, personality and purpose immediately.
Types of logos
Logotype: It is a text-based logo, where the name of the company or brand is represented with unique typography. Example: Coca-Cola, Google.
Isotype: It is a symbol or image that represents the brand without the need to include text. It is used when the image is so strong that it can stand on its own. Example: Nike’s Swoosh.
Imagotype: Combines a symbol with the brand name. Both elements can work independently. Example: Lacoste (the crocodile and the name).
Isologotype: Unlike the imagotype, in the isologotype the text and the symbol are integrated, so that they cannot be separated without losing the meaning of the logo. Example: Burger King.
Monogram: A logo that uses the initials of the brand instead of the full name, usually in a stylized design. Example: HBO, IBM.
